Starting from York made on a Tuesday morning on the way to Leeds to see the venerable "United". The Peacocks were represented in the top division until 2004 and were one of the most successful teams in England in the 70s. After the Leeds United 2001 even came to the semifinals of the Champions League, but then went steadily downhill. 2004 one descended from the Premier Leagueab and fights since that around the way back.
With the journey in the morning one had done rather no large favor. The weather was mediocre and the sightseeing factor of the city manageable. So one had to look around after a sightseeing tour of the city center for a Plan B. This resulted after careful consideration in the end in a visit to the cinema. In order to keep possible language barriers skillfully low one looked for an appropriate film, which one could also find with the thriller "Dont Breath". *g*
Danach one went back to the station, in whose proximity a shuttle bus direction Elland Road departed. There we were lucky that a fan had already gathered there, because the station was not marked. After a short wait, the first bus came roaring and it went off to the stadium.
The stadium holds just under 40,00 spectators and has 4 double grandstands each with closed corners. Around the stadium there are stores, various lounges and restaurants. Opposite, the culinary stalls and stores have settled. The there Fish and Chips Local might enjoy a very good reputation because there formed a very long queue that kept us from a Verköstigung yet.
The fan store is despite years of second-class large held and also well attended. Here one might profit then nevertheless still from the gloss of the old days. Also the statue of Billy Bremner is a desired motive and decorated with numerous flowers.
Glanz hin, Glanz her - the truth lies at the place. Leeds has started the season reasonably well and is in the top third, while for Wigan this year probably everything looks like relegation battle. So the situation was clear, and the game seemed to be heading in that direction at first. Leeds put on the pressure right from the start and it was only a matter of time before the opening goal was scored. In minute 29 provided Chris Wood then for the much-celebrated leadership, which one brought in the consequence also in the break.
In the second half Leeds tried to make further the game. Although you had clearly more of the game were compelling opportunities scarce and the few opportunities were often miserably missed. And so it came as it had to come.
In the 91st minute, Shaun MacDonald provided for the somewhat surprising equalizer. Leeds tried in the last minutes once again everything, but it remained ultimately with the draw.
The shuttle buses back to the station drove after the end of the game in 5-minute intervals and so you managed it easily to arrive in time for the return trip to York at the station.
