FSV Zwickau : Carl Zeiss Jena

On the way back from Hamburg to Linz madeteman again a detour to Saxony to see the game between the FSV Zwickau and Carl Zeiss Jena in the Northeast Regional League. Both clubs have quite more glamorous times behind them.

Zwickau was the first champion of the GDR andkonnte in the sequence still 2 more championship titles. Also in the European Cup Zwickau mixed well with and reached 1976 even the semifinals in the Cup of the Cup winners. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, Zwickau played for a few years in the second league before it went down for sporting and financial reasons. Carl Zeiss Jena also won the GDR championship 3 times and even reached a European Cup final. After the reunification, Jena established itself as a classic elevator team. Between 2nd league, regional league and even upper league it went back and forth. Now these two former grandees of the GDR football met inder Regionalliga Nordost, whereby the FSV Zwickau can make themselves stillberechtigte hopes on a rise in the 3rd league.

A soccer stadium in the actual sense has the FSV Zwickau not. The Westsachsenstadion is the actual homestead of the club, which should also be rebuilt a few years ago. However, there was ultimately a lack of money and so the area became a school and grassroots sports center. The thus homeless FSV carries out since then its home games in the "Sport forum Sojus 31" in Zwickau Eckersbach. On this simple football pitch, several tubular steel stands have been erected next to the running track, all of which are unroofed. Since it meant the weather but very well with us,was this day no problem ;-)

The journey to the sports forum was on foot, since we had rented us in the just under 3 kilometers away hotel ACHAT. Since the stands were already very full waited a bit to make it comfortable at the departure of the steel structures. At the beginning, all the stands showed a choreography, which one butmangels good visibility could not fully savor. And while the fans were still busy with the retraction of the choreography it became already completely quiet in the sports forum. Just 13 seconds it had lasted until the guests from Jena could cheer for the first time. Banaskiewicz was the scorer for theGäste.

After that, Zwickau was somewhat shocked and came onlylangsam into the game. With the continuation of the game took the home teamzwar more and more the command, a goal should not succeed in the first half butmehr. So it went into the break with a deficit.
