UEFA Europa League
White Hart Lane
Ticket & Statistics
After a long time it finally went back to London to look at a few games. And what is closer than the Europa League game date to use to start right on Thursday. The game of Tottenham against Tripoli was obvious, one did not have to worry about any ticket bottlenecks.
Since the flight from Linz took place only in the afternoon, it was a bit stressful to reach the game in time. At the beginning everything seemed to go smoothly but thanks to a subway breakdown we missed the first train towards White Hart Lane and so we arrived late. We could still hear the cries of jubilation from the first goal as we ran up the old staircase, but thankfully it was not to be the last goals of the evening. After half an hour Lamela with a Traumtor scored the 2:0 and also otherwise numerous chances were played out on both sides. With this intermediate score, it then also went into halftime.
Because of the UEFA rules, the break beer unfortunately fell flat and so we approved a "Sausage Roll" which was not a culinary treat, but better than some burgers in other English stadiums. After the break, the action continued on the pitch, as the Greeks didn't hide either, and so a respectable game developed. Tripoli's weakness in finishing continued, however. After a good chance to score the next goal, Tottenham scored 3:0. The Greeks continued to play, but subsequently had to concede goals 4 and 5. Thereby Harry Kane was allowed to excel as a triple scorer.
Shortly before the end of the game, the Spurs goalie Lloris after an emergency brake had to leave the field with red. Since Tottenham had already changed three times, a field player had to go in goal. And this task was taken over by the aforementioned triple pack Kane. His goal was probably to prove that he is not so bad at preventing goals. He had his first test with the following free kick. And... well.... he should probably rather stay with the goal shooting..
This curious highlight was then also the final point of a good game. After the game, a few photos of the White Hart Lane were made but especially also the erected posters for the planned new construction of the stadium considered. Seems to be a great new stadium - in any case a reason to come back. Afterwards it went still in "The Bricklayers", where the Guinness from plastic cups then but not as good tasted as from chilled glasses ;-)
