UEFA Champions League
Estádio da Luz
Ticket & Statistics
A week's vacation in Lisbon could not remain unused, of course, and so we checked the game schedules. Unfortunately, most of the games took place on Saturday, so we looked through our fingers thanks to the inconvenient arrival and departure dates. But thanks to the Champions League also a game took place during the week, whereby we still came into a groundhopping enjoyment.
After we thus during the day Sintra and Cascais visited, we make ourselves thus on the way to the stadium Estádio da Luz. This is very easy to reach by metro. In addition, numerous supporters were already on the road, which made the way even easier to find.
On site, you first had to pick up the ordered tickets. After one had rattled off two cash registers one was referred to the fan store. There, everything went very uncomplicated and fast from statten. After that, once again had to take the obligatory path around the stadium, because of course you were once again on the completely wrong side ;-)
The stadium would hold just under 65,000 spectators, and so it seemed despite 35,000 fans present more empty than full. Especially the upper tiers were sparsely attended. But some Zenit fans had the way to Lisbon and populated the guest sector in the upper tier.
And these had then also immediately reason to cheer. Already in minute 5 provided Hulk for the leadership of the guests. Shortly thereafter, Benfica goalkeeper Artur Moraes had to leave the field with red. Zenit now had a greater share of the game, which was underpinned shortly afterwards with the 2:0 by Witsel .
Benfica had nothing to oppose in this phase and seemed somewhat haphazard. But nothing more happened until the break. In the break, the stadium shook - but only because of the loud techno music that boomed from the speakers. Since we would have been almost the Fado chants of the sightseeing buses still prefer.
The home eleven seemed to have liked the music but, because they came much more powerful from the cabin. But that was also due to the fact that Zenit played a little more reserved. Lisbon pressed despite a man less on the court more and more, but before the goal they remained too harmless. Thus it remained with the 2:0 for the guests from Saint Petersburg.
Despite the defeat, the fighting 10 men of Lisbon were seen off with a standing ovation. Accordingly, the stadium emptied slowly until you could finally take the necessary selfie. In this case, one was there but not so angry, it had yet started to rain heavily on time with the final whistle.
Bis one then finally out of the stadium was the downpour also already finished and one made his way to the subway. Despite large crowds, the ride home went pretty quickly. It had paid off the station in front of the stadium to aim and thus something more comfortable in the subway to come. Has just now and then his good if you do not know so well on the spot ;-)
