After one had put on New Year's Eve a proper pub crawl with subsequent year-end in the Walkabouts Covent Garden, the new year began with a trip to the fourth power level of the English league.
After our apartment was located at Tufnell Park, it offered itself with the subway in the direction of Barnet aufzaufmachen to the resident Barnet FC a visit, where for some time Edgar Davids is active as a coach.
An opponent in this basement derby was Aldershot. More than 2500 spectators turned up on New Year's Day to witness this match. The stadium was thus well filled.
Because of the table situation hardly surprisingly, it came to a game of misery against misery. The warped place did the rest and so no warming game came together. Even the pie we bought for the first time didn't help (it didn't really meet our taste...). Thus it remained after 45 minutes with a 0:0.
The second half started then equal times with a penalty for the guests, which was sovereignly converted to the lead. After that, the home team decimated itself by a senseless foul at the halfway line and thus made the afternoon even more difficult than it already was.
So, however, developed a more open game with some scoring chances on both sides. But no one could use the sometimes very good opportunities and so Barnet had to admit defeat with 0:1.
After that you had to warm up again first, and so the first day of the new year ended as the previous year had stopped - with a few Guinness in the pub ;-)
