MATRADE Loftus Road Stadium
Ticket & Statistics
After a long time, a trip to London was once again on the programme. 6 games in 6 days were on the programme this time. The programme kicked off with Queens Park Rangers against Coventry City.
A longer programme was not on the agenda on this first day anyway, so we quickly made our way to the pub near Loftus Road to get in the mood for the game. We then headed to the stadium, which is in a very ingenious location in the middle of a housing estate. Older stadiums can be very iconic, but what the seats at Loftus Road have to offer is rather adventurous. Sitting up straight is hardly possible with a height of 170 cm. Fortunately, there was a free seat next to me otherwise I would probably still be stuck there ;-)
The game itself started with a bang. Less than four minutes had been played when Haji Wright put the visitors into the lead. A few minutes later, Kenneth Paal had to leave the field injured. Rangers struggled to recover from these early shocks and failed to get into the game at all. In the end, they had to be happy that Coventry did not make better use of their opportunities and went into the half-time break 1-0 down.
After half-time, it was the same picture to begin with before a double substitution created some momentum. QPR were now able to create a number of chances and substitute Kieran Morgan provided the acclaimed equaliser. After that, the outcome of the game was completely open again. Both teams were always dangerous in front of goal, with Coventry in particular having a number of good opportunities at the end. In the end, it was thanks to goalkeeper Paul Nardi that the points remained.
