From Frankfurt, we travelled by train in the direction of Wiesbaden, where we arrived at a beautiful old railway station. From there, it was just a short walk to the BRIT-Arena.
Unfortunately, the stadium is not very eye-catching from the outside and is barely recognisable as a stadium. An inconspicuous Wellbleck block next to the main road, which you wouldn't recognise as a football ground at all if it weren't for the fans standing in line. The old Helmut-Schön-Sportpark is located next door - so at least there is some football flair there.
There were no bars or various beer stands around the stadium. There was only a mobile beer stand in front of the away sector, where the numerous Hannover fans who had travelled with them had already gathered.
In the stadium, the first thing they did was enjoy a delicious Pfundstätter beer and an equally tasty bratwurst before heading inside. There they found a great atmosphere for a second division match. Only the free-standing pillars spoilt the fun somewhat. This should perhaps be taken into account when choosing seats...
Hannover went into the game as favourites, but were only able to live up to this role to a limited extent. Wiesbaden, who are involved in the relegation battle, were solid at the back and were always dangerous in front of goal. The transition play worked well and a quick counter-attack resulted in the 1:0 in the 33rd minute through Ivan Prtajin. The lead was deserved at this point and Hannover were unable to do anything about it in the first half.
In the second half, Hannover got into the game better and equalised after just a few minutes through substitute Andreas Voglsammer. It briefly seemed as though the game could be completely overturned, but Wiesbaden regained their composure and an even game developed in which big chances were few and far between. There was only some danger from set-pieces, but in the end it remained a deserved draw.
