Unfortunately, the match schedule had little in common with our sightseeing trip to the Czech Republic, which meant that the only match we could attend was a duel in the second division. For FC Jihlava it was all about securing points to stay in the league, while SK Lisen needed the points to fight for promotion. After enjoying the beer and culinary delights of the Brewery Jezek the day before, they wanted to fulfil their cultural mission the next day before the match. So they took the train to Telc. Unfortunately, the weather was not exactly merciful, as it rained non-stop except for a few interruptions. Nevertheless, the beer prices and especially the beer itself in the Czech Republic are quite a compensation for these weather conditions...
After returning to Jihlava, we set off on foot from the station to the Stadium v Jiráskově ulici. At least this walk could be done in only light rain. However, the very moderate temperatures for an April attracted only a few spectators. Just 375 people wanted to watch this second division match. The stadium has a large back stand and a covered long stand. A VIP area was put on top of the dressing room wing, which is funny in itself - but not exactly a visual treat.
The game itself immediately adapted to the external conditions. It did not develop into a great game, with chances in short supply. And so it went into the dressing room with a deserved 0-0 score. After the tea break, Lisen showed more attacking spirit, which was rewarded in the 58th minute by Michael Jerabek with the opening goal. However, this was not the starting signal for a more interesting game. The game was still on a manageable level. Jihlava pressed for an equaliser in the end, but it was not to be.
Lisen thus remain in the promotion race and Jihlava missed out on the points they need to fight to stay in the league. But if the two teams deliver similar performances in the next games, both will probably fail to achieve their goals...
