The Tottenham Hotspurs, also known as Spurs, is a professional football club based in the Tottenham area of London, England. Founded in 1882, the club has a rich history and has become one of the most successful teams in English football.

The club was formed by a group of schoolboys from the Hotspur Cricket Club and was initially named Hotspur FC. In 1884, the club changed its name to Tottenham Hotspur FC and joined the Southern League in 1896.
